Charles Journet

January 26, 1891–April 15, 1975

Charles Journet was a Swiss Roman Catholic priest and theologian. In 1965, he was created a cardinal in 1965 by Pope Paul VI, becoming the first Swiss to receive that honor.

In 1926, with his close friend Jacques Maritain, Journet founded the influential theological journal Nova et Vetera. His own theological work also carried tremendous influence, especially for the figures in the Thomistic revival.

His works in English include The Dark Knowledge of God, The Church of the Word Incarnate, and The Meaning of Evil.
