Walter Farrell, O.P.

1902–1951

Walter Farrell, O.P., was a Dominican priest and scholar.

One of the best-known priests in twentieth-century America, Fr. Farrell’s life work as pastor, author, teacher, scholar, and naval chaplain in WWII, readily fulfilled the call of St. Paul to be all things to all men.

Plagued by poor health for much of his life, he left at his death at the early age of forty-nine a rich literary legacy, the crown jewel of which is certainly his masterpiece, the four-volume Companion to the Summa.
